It will be the first zone in this category in Mexico.
One of the pillars of the ADEPM is to protect the community of Punta de Mita in the Riviera Nayarit, hence generating an environment with urban order and responsibility without being affected.. In doing so, it will comply with the 17 sustainability goals of UN habitat.
This is why ADEPM insists in obtaining the presidential declaration for Punta de Mita as a Sustainable Tourism Development Zone of Mexico.
On March 31, 2022, the ADEPM met with the general director of tourism sustainability of federal SECTUR Ing. Marco Antonio Espinosa Magaña. This meeting was held with the purpose of defining the working agenda that will lead to the presidential declaration as a Sustainable Tourism Development Zone for Punta de Mita in the Riviera Nayarit. It will be published in the official newspaper of the federation.
Engineer Marco Antonio Espinosa Magaña also commented that the progress that the ADEPM has made to fulfill this purpose has been very encouraging, he mentioned that in a recent meeting he held with representatives of other tourist destinations in the country, Punta de Mita was set as an example for the great progress t it has become as a tourist destination.
There is the “Sustainable Mexico” program, where there are projects such as Pulsa Tour, which is an international financing intended to take place in the state of Oaxaca and Baja California Sur, and will seek to receive a declaration as a development zone sustainable tourism in Mexico. Furthermore, SECTUR´S purpose is to find a bond with the people of these destinations and their experiences for making the country a better place.
The proposal of the ADEPM was to seek to coordinate that the municipality of Bahía de Banderas and the state of Nayarit ,together with SECTUR, match the work that has been done so far through the association.
SECTUR showed the greatest willingness to shorten and speed up time, mentioning that it is a priority of this dependency that the agreement comes out as soon as possible. The important thing is to conclude the process of the declaration, in order to later determine the management plan, which is where it is suggested to advance the efforts in conjunction with the competent authorities.
The commitment of the ING Espinosa Magaña is to provide a timely follow-up to this process together with the federal Undersecretary of Tourism Humberto Hernández Haddad, to accelerate the final process with the federal agencies involved in it.
Currently, the progress of the declaration for Punta de Mita is in the legal offices of the 5 federal agencies in its final stage for its signature and thus conclude and take it to the legal department of the presidency of the republic.
