National Development Plan 2019-2024

With the purpose to establish the objectives and strategies that will attend to the most important problems in Mexico and push forth national development, the National Development Plan (PND2019-2024) is created. In March 2019, the Federal Government announced the general lines of the proposal, which will be presented to the House of Representatives for eventual ratification.

How will the National Development Plan 2019-2024 be formed?

President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador summoned citizens and specialists from different sectors to participate in the forums for the preparation of the National Development Plan, which will take place in each of the 32 states of the Mexican Republic.

The PND 2019-2024 has three main axes: Justice and the Rule of Law; Welfare and Economic Development. In a collateral way it looks for: Gender Equality, Non-discrimination and inclusion; Fight against corruption, Improvement of public management and Territory with Sustainable Development.

Last March 11, 2019, the State Forum took place in Nayarit, which took place in Nuevo Vallarta, municipality of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. The forum was organized by the Department of Tourism of the State. The ADEPM received a cordial invitation to participate in the “Plenary Session” and as a panelist in the discussion forum on “Economic Development”.

The ADEPM brought to the table the request for incorporation of the 17 Sustainable Develompment Goals (ODS) established by UN Habitat) It should be remembered that these goals were established in 2015 by 150 world leaders who attended the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development.

At this meeting, a document entitled: “Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” was signed; which includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) whose objective is to end poverty, fight against inequality and injustice, protect the planet with its natural resources and tackle climate change without anyone being left behind by 2030.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as World Goals. Each objective has specific goals that must be achieved in the next 15 years. Here we present the 169 goals that it seeks to achieve.

With this concluded the participation of the ADEPM where we had the opportunity to deliver to the undersecretary of Tourism, Simon Levy, a file with this information, along with strategies that the ADEPM promotes to achieve the goals that UN Habitat considers necessary for a sustainable development; it also attached information on Security issues with the purpose to achieve in time and form the construction of a Naval Station (ENA) in the Punta de Mita area.

The proposal of the National Development Plan must be ready no later than April 30 to be taken to the House of Representatives for discussion and approval as indicated in the Planning Law. All the information about the consultation process will be available on the official page of PND 2019-2024
