The Asociacion de Empresarios de Punta de Mita and Riviera Nayarit (ADEPM) met last November 10 with the Municipal President of Bahía de Banderas, Dr. Jaime Cuevas, and with the Secretary of Planning, Programming and Budget, José David Guerrero, and with the next Federal Undersecretary of Tourism Development and Tourism Regulation, Humberto Hernandez Haddad, and with the upcoming Undersecretary of Tourism, Simon Levy, with commission in Planning and Tourism Policy. The meeting was also attended by the Federal Representatives, Carmina Regalado, and Marco Carbajal, in order to give continuity to the initiatives already planned for the region of Punta de Mita and Riviera Nayarit.

ADEPM partners mentioned the projects they are developing individually for Punta de Mita, emphasizing following a line of sustainable development for the area, as they support the management that is being carried out by the State and Municipal Government to declare Punta de Mita as the First Zone of Sustainable Tourism Development, according to the regulations of the program established by SECTUR since 2009. It seeks to receive this Decree before the end of 2018.

They also highlighted the challenges that must be addressed to take care of the urban and economic development of the region.

It is in everybody’s interest to avoid that the Riviera Nayarit has a disorderly growth, without possibilities of providing basic and quality services. In addition, it is a priority to establish security strategies as the confidence of tourists to visit the destination and of investors in developing companies that benefit the economy of the region depends from this point.

The next Undersecretaries of Tourism, Humberto Hernández and Simon Levy, agreed on the need to develop sustainable tourism destinations, with resilient economies. Therefore, they expressed their support for the actions and projects that are currently being carried out in the region, with the purpose of continuing to give them stability once the change of government in the country is made. In addition, they commented that the ADEPM have open doors to work closely and together during the next period of government in projects that benefit the Punta de Mita and Riviera Nayarit area.
