Police Station for Punta de Mita and its people
“To be gathered on this day took us 9 years to achieve. Three government administrations had to pass to make possible this assembly”
“This police station was not abandoned. What was abandoned was the safety of the whole Municipality”
These were the reflections heard at the inauguration of the Police Station of Punta de Mita on the part of ADEPM President, Jason Lavender, and from Dr. Jaime Cuevas, Municipal President of Bahia de Banderas.
The Police Station of Punta de Mita which was abandoned today comes back to life with the effort of social sectors working as one sole team. With the Government, the private sector, and the very important participation of the citizenry it was possible to rehabilitate it and immediately initiate its service to the citizens.
The ADEPM along with DINE group, Fundación Punta de Mita, Riviera Ventures and citizens of the region, completely remodeled the Police Station. Each put his little grain of sand. There were those who donated labor, others through donations; those who lend support with equipment and tools. At the end it only shows that the society and the government can work together to achieve more projects that increase the beauty of Punta de Mita.
From the start of his administration as Municipal President, Dr. Jaime Cuevas offered the citizens of Bahía de Banderas to take care of the safety in the Municipality. The ADEPM took the opportunity to propose that the Police Station be rehabilitated as it was in very bad shape and to provide it with proper equipment, with this, making the place a much nicer place with the Punta de Mita touch and flavor, which was achieved today, being the Municipal government who will onwards provide the service and maintain its operation.
Punta de Mita already has a responsible to look after the people and maintain peace and order 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is a patrol car, a four-wheel motorcycle, a fire truck, and an ambulance which are for the exclusive use of the region; besides, Municipal president, Jaime Cuevas, mentioned in his speech that the police staff that will be responsible of the zone, will be fixed and the residents and entrepreneurs will be able to contact them directly through their cellular numbers to have direct, fast and opportune responses.
The police station will operate through two teams, one for each day. Responsible personnel are as follows:
