Naval Station in Punta de Mita: management moving towards security

In terms of security, the plan is to increase the presence of the Mexican Navy throughout the entire Mexican territory. For this reason, Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberon Sanz, Secretary of the Navy, supports the management that ADEPM carries out, plus the three levels of government of Mexico, to build a Naval Station in Punta de Mita.

The idea is that this Naval Station function as a center of operations that allows increasing the logistical support to the sailors in order that Nayaritas and their tourists continue to live and develop their activities in a day to day in peace and security, thus increasing the potentials that the area has.

Last April 6, 2018, Municipal President, Dr. Jaime Cuevas, Vice Admiral Commander of the 8th naval zone, José Luis Arellano, the FONATUR delegate, and the representatives of the ADEPM met with the captains of the 4th Armada, Juan Carlos Ramos and Pérez Sánchez, who made a visit to the region to know firsthand the conditions in which the land where the Naval Station in Punta de Mita will be built is found. The task they received was to promote and facilitate a Naval Station that provides security to the entire Riviera Nayarit.

SEMAR and FONATUR will jointly carry out a preliminary project, with which the infrastructure and the reasons for its location can be justified. This preliminary draft also has the legal part through generating a legal scheme and the creation of a trust.

Once this preliminary project is received and shared with FONATUR, all the necessary improvements will be implemented after which the project will be approved to begin construction. Once the construction process begins, FONATUR contemplates, within its regulations, a maximum of 2 years to carry out the construction of the facilities. If within that period of time it is not built, the land will return to its donor.

All the pieces are aligning; the management has been carried out under a continuous and constant process. The purpose is Security for Nayarit, its citizens and visitors, the objective is the Naval Station in Punta de Mita and Riviera Nayarit.
