Last week, the ADEPM´s board held a joint meeting with Banderas Bay Tourism Council, Mari Emigdia Jimenez Carrillo and Nadie Paniagua Robles, with the former mayor of Vail, Colorado, Andy Daly. The purpose of this meeting was to set the foundations for the sister city program between Bahía de Banderas and Vail, an idea that has been under discussion for a couple of years but has not yet taken place.

The successful meeting covered the key steps that both parties need to follow in order to make this project real. Andy Daly, shared previous experiences such as the previous sister city program between Vail and San Miguel de Allende, which had as main focus on the cultural and gastronomic exchange between both cities.

Gastronomy could be the starting point for the relationship between Banderas Bay and Vail. However, the opportunity to develop exchange projects in areas such as culture, gastronomy, education and health was also mentioned. These aspects will not only strengthen the relationship between the communities, but will also generate long-lasting benefits for both parties.

In August 2024, the Nayarit fair will be held in Los Angeles California, the event will be attended by the Mayor of Bahía de Banderas, Lia Castro Diaz de Leon and the entire tourism board, and will seek to formalize the sister cities program between Bahía de Banderas and Vail in this event.

The meeting not only established a clear direction for the sister cities program for Bahía de Banderas and Vail, but also encouraged creative ideas for future projects that will further strengthen this connection.
